About Cranberry Township

Cranberry Township is in southwestern Butler County, where Interstate 79 meets the Pennsylvania Turnpike, roughly 30 minutes by car from downtown Pittsburgh. U.S. Route 19 and Pennsylvania Route 228 serve as its main arterial roads.

The township was settled in 1796 by Mathew and William Graham and incorporated in 1804. It takes its name from the wild cranberries that once grew along Brush Creek. Its historical society has restored artifacts from the township's past, including a one-room schoolhouse next to the Municipal Center.

Cranberry operates three major public parks, a community waterpark, a skatepark, a dog park, the Cranberry Highlands municipal golf course and the Cranberry Public Library, which is located inside the Municipal Center on Rochester Road.
